SSL Installation Guideline for Microsoft Exchange 2013

Step By Step Information for Microsoft Exchange 2013 SSL Installation

If you have not yet completed the procedure of generating a CSR for issuing an SSL certificate, please follow this link to access a stepwise procedure. Here is a detailed procedure for you to install an SSL certificate effortlessly in the Exchange 2013 environment. The tutorial here deals with the procedure for installing with the Exchange Management Console.

Step 1 – Get started with downloading and opening the '.zip' file that contains your certificate, which will be named as 'your_domain_name.cer'.

Step 2 – Now, copy this file to your Exchange server's network share folder, which you chose for saving the CSR.

Step 3 – Open the web browser and access 'Exchange Admin Center' by browsing to https://localhost/ecp

Step 4 – Login by using your domain/ user name and password.

Step 5 – Click on 'Servers' that is located on the left side of the screen. After that, click on 'Certificates' as shown in the following image.

Step 6 – From the menu displayed on the screen, select your certificate, which would be listed with its friendly name. Then, click on 'Complete' link that is located on the right side of the screen as shown in the image below.

Step 7 – Enter the network share path that leads to the location where you stored your certificate file.

Step 8 – By now, the certificate should be installed on the server successfully.

Step 9 – Next, return to Exchange Admin Center's 'Certificates' section to enable your certificate for use. From the given menu, highlight the certificate you intend to use and click on 'Edit' button.

Step 10 – Click on 'Services' on the left side of the screen. This would enable you to specify the services you wish to enable.

Step 11 – From the given checkboxes, select the services you want to include and click on 'Save'.

Step 12 – With this last step, you have successfully installed your SSL certificate and enabled it for use with Exchange.
